Meet Damian Leahy from FCF Fire and Electrical South QLD

I’m Damian Leahy and I’ve joined FCF Fire & Electrical in Southern Queensland.I was the Managing Director for Shock Electrical and Data for 2 years and enjoying the work, but wanted to diversify to give clients an added service.

Living in Dalby for most of my life I can understand how difficult it can be to interest qualified trades people back to regional Australia, notably those in specialised positions. As a result, I saw a need in local industry for fire protection services.

After completing the relevant training last year, my workload has exploded. In the last few weeks we were in the towns of Wondai, Nanango, Kilcoy, Ipswich, Toowoomba, Warwick, Southbrook, Chinchilla, and Charleville visiting many businesses with a range of different needs.

If community support continues to grow like it has then hopefully we’ll be able to offer a local apprenticeship before too long, but I don’t plan on stopping there.

I’m really excited to be part of the FCF Fire & Electrical team.

Fire Protection Dalby – What Business Owners Need to Know

Queensland business owners have a responsibility to ensure their business is compliant with Standards Australia’s criteria for Fire Protection. When it comes to fire protection for your business there are a number of things to consider. One of the main things is that every business is different. A gas company has a different fire threat than does a printer. One must follow standard operating procedures regarding combustible gases while the other must be vigilant about rubbish and flammable debris.

This enables a clear perspective on the vulnerable areas of the site and the best options for protection. Based on the risks pertaining to the site, safety and evacuation plans can be formulated and employees can then be trained for evacuation procedures and marshal points.
